Legends and whispers abound of Spellcarver's court of demons. Known as the Black Court, there is only one position to be had: Lord. A Demon Lord is not unlike a prince on the island, and is given a wide berth in most cases due to raw reputation for unspeakable violence. There is one exception to this, of course, and that is the position of Knight. We will discuss each.
The Dark Trinity: These are the three top Lords, and each rules a class of demon that they dominate utterly, they are as follows:
Amon Fallenblade: Demon Lord of Fire and Creation, leader of the Fallenblade Class.
Scylla Imbrie: Demon Lord of Water and Magic
Darious Breathstealer: Demon Lord of Air and Innovation.
Other lords in the court are generally not worth mentioning, as their station in the Court is so very low that they are often just ruling bodies of demon clans not yet legitimized by the Court, or not deemed powerful enough to survive the test of time. These lesser lords actually make up the largest body of Spellcarver's armies, and usually are put on the front lines like cattle. They consider this the highest honor, and even though it may seem unfair, they lament only that they have not reached a level of perfection to be considered more important in their Father's eye.
Knights: BARAAD. This living suit of armor is a General in Spell's army, and generally considered one of his champions when personal combat is required. 'He' has no physical body, and so can never truly die, but the process by which it may possess another suit of armor is lengthy and expensive.
Vilefang Whiteclaw, one of the four pinnacles of Necromancy has ever been the token Deathknight, Vilefang was once a Paladin of the Order of the Dragon. He challenged Spell to a duel that lasted three days and three nights, and Spell slew him by mistake. So stricken that the hapless knight had died due to a mishap, he revived him as his Deathknight, to know power and glory in undeath, which he had not known in life.

The Demons in the Court are divided by their means and ends of evolution, and also how they maintain their immortal bodies. This is most easily explained by example, so we'll dig right in.
Fallenblades: Brute force and raw strength was the way of this race, their black bodies are ripples of muscle and sharp talons. They form weapons of their own bones to attack prey, and feed by eating the flesh of the fallen.
Breathstealers: Perhaps the gentlest and least favored of the Major Court, the Breathstealers originally began their evolution to be a flying menace. An entire generation of men, women and children would sleep with their faces buried in their pillows, for fear that a Breathstealer would creep in at night and steal the life and air from their lungs. They are built mostly for raw speed and incredible skill, they are also notably smarter than the Fallenblades, and so have a greater capacity for magic.
Imbrie: The Abberations, they have no defining points, and each one is different....if there were more than one to speak of. Scylla is the only one of her race, and refuses to produce more than herself.
Duskweaver: First among the Lesser Court, they were all but decimated by Spellcarver's own hand when they dared to evolve the ability to shade their thoughts even from Him. Those that remain alive are the chief assassins of the Court, as they have evolved the ability to be corporeal and yet pass through solid matter when enough focus is given, they are also very, very hard to see when they want to. They are not invisible, but they manipulate the minds of others to simply just NOT notice they are there.l
Plaguestriker: Least of the Lesser Court, these creatures killed off most of their number by their own unstable evolution. They, as their names imply, are living chemical weapons...or at least they were, before they developed a plague so deadly it killed almost all of them as well.
Common attributes of void demons:
Genderless, all but one demon of the Court is without sexual organs. They appear, in most cases, to be male, however they have no reproductive capabilities in the normal sense. Some have been known to mate with mortals, and produce halfbreed children, but these are considered abominations in the eyes of the Court. Void Demons, when in their natural state, reproduce asexually. No tentacles here, folks.
Black Skin: Most Void Demons sport Black Skin when in full demon form. This skin is resistant to heat, cold, and thicker than normal skin. They never burn in the sun, and rarely, if ever, receive bruises from normal scuffles. Break bones, or don't bother, their flesh repairs too quickly to bother with pounding on it.
